Looking forward to hearing more ... just listening to 'Dear Life' now.

Purchased the deluxe bundle earlier today (sold out now) ...

And also the yellow vinyl 'indie' version.

ahh gotcha.  Yeah, i stay away from the facebook groups but that makes sense though.  thanks for the heads up!

Didn't love Dreams or Wow but after his explanation of the album as a whole i think it will really help to hear them in context.

Dear Life is pretty enjoyable

Just picked up the Yellow LP.  Can't wait to hear the whole thing.

Dear Life brings me some hope. Didn't really enjoy the other 3 songs. 6 remain.

I've loved all of them. I just finished listening to Wow again and I don't get the disdain (from some people) about it. Dreams was fantastic, but I'm curious how much/little it changed for the album version.

For some reason I haven't bought anything yet. I don't know what versions I want and my music is all messed up right now technology-wise

Holy shit I hate it.  I just hate it.

I've heard five of the ten songs now.  That's exactly half.  They're so bad.  They're just so unlistenable.  Wtf Beck??  You used to be so cool!  Twenty plus years and you've never let me down.

But damn this is just a pile of hot garbage.

Dear Life is the only one I think I'll be able to listen to more than once.  Dreams was just dull.  Up All Night was shit.  Wow gave me ear cancer.  No Direction just gave me ear aids.

I don't have high hopes for the remaining five tracks.  Oh well.  You had a good run Beck.

Not a big fan myself, but I wouldn't write Beck off just because he decided to release this atrocious album. I am already looking forward for the next project, hope it is a little more interesting. Perhaps he needs to release a few "bad" records to let the good stuff flow.

yep. i'm not excited.  Ordered the yellow vinyl but super bummed on what i've heard so far.

A big fan of a lot of Greg Kurstin does as well, especially Bird and the Bee.

Maybe i will "get" this album when i hear the whole thing.

I Love "Dear Life" the best so far of the 4 songs I heard. I'm waiting for the album to be released to hear the rest. This is an album to play loud like Midnite Vultures. Wow and Dreams are good too. I crank up Dreams in the car and it reminds me of the music that would play at the State Fair on rides like the Gravitron, etc. It sounds like arena rock or something to me which is why it makes sense, I guess, that he is opening for U2. I never liked arena rock, I stopped listening to Muse after a while because I didn't like that sound.

My only complaint so far is the Up All Night music video. Doesn't feel like a Beck video to me. Now that he won Album of the Year I don't think he had a lot of say on that video. Seems very Illuminati-ish to me. One eye painted on the guys face. An a make out/orgy scene like in Eyes Wide Shut, don't like it. Beck always changes his style, I'm surprised so many people don't like it on this forum.

Well, it's official:  this album is shit.  Steaming, stinking shit.

The only songs that are even close to tolerable are Dear Life and Fix Me, which basically sounds like an alternate take of Volcano from Modern Guilt.

I still love Beck and look forward to whatever he'll do next.  But man.  He really whiffed this one.

I don't actually hate this album at all. It's utterly competent, functional and goes down smooth, but it's lacking in surprise, which is a cardinal sin for an artist like Beck. Probably will listen to this a couple more times, realize there isn't much to go back to and move on to something else. It's not a career killer, but it's nothing special and Beck used to be very special.
