Has anyone here been to the Mud Island Amphitheatre? I'm going to the show tomorrow, and I'm wondering how seriously to take the "No cameras/No recording devices" statement. Some places say that but don't actually back it up, and some do.

Got my camera & digital recorder in. I was too nervous to get any video, but I did get a decent audio recording of the show as well as a few photos. I'll post the audio on Dime & Youtube when I get it fixed up.

Here's the Youtube version. I'll try to get the torrent on Dime later this week. Enjoy!

Oh, and the photos that appear during the video are all ones that I took during the show.

I recorded a couple of songs during the soundcheck in Memphis that I've posted on my Youtube. The first one is Wave, which he didn't play during the show. I wish he had. It's one of my favorite songs on Morning Phase and despite going to six shows on the Morning Phase tour, I only got to hear it once. I kind of like the bird noises that came through on this.

The second one is a song I didn't recognize. Does anyone know what it is? I can't tell if that's Beck singing or not (although that's clearly Beck saying something at around the 13 second mark) It could be one of Roger or Jason's songs, but I haven't heard enough of their stuff to know.

You sir have done an amazing job and I am cutting my communication hiatus to come and tell you that. This may have one of my favorite riffs. Hopefully he'll play it live shortly.

Thanks!

I love that keyboard riff, and the song has a nice groove.

Oh yes, a very nice little jig that one! Many thanks for posting. Oh please, let that be a taster from Beck's new album. Kinda Midnite Vultures-esque, don't you think?

I know this is getting wild now, but if the next album is a return to the grooves of the Midnite Vultures, just as Morning Phase was a return to the mood of Sea Change, then can I please put an order in for an album full of Whiskeyclone Hotel Cities.

At the same time, the sound of songs like Whiskeyclone Hotel City is probably largely due to the recording equipment Beck was using back then. I just love the sound of what must have been a wonky old guitar (the Jazzercise?) tuned down so that the strings hang a little loose, the nailon string lead quitar, the percussion, and the sped-down beck-choir in the background.
