anybody watch It Takes a Thief on the Discovery Channel?

i'm hooked on it, myself.

the premise of the show is

2 real ex-burglars—are the show's hosts. With permission from their intended victims, they stage a full-fledged burglary, after which the security-challenged homeowners watch how it happened on closed-circuit television.

i.e.
they rob somebody. then make the people who got got robbed watch it. then they upgrade the security of the victims house.

it's awesome (to me anyway)

here's a rather crappy highlights clip from youtube

not the best clip but all i could find online :(
i've got a good number of episodes on tape.

it's a pretty funny show too. the matt guy gives a funny play-by-play as the robbing takes place. and john (the guy who's robbing the people) goes wild with the robbing just like it was a "real" burglary going down. in fact both of them used to be real burglars (saying the show) and now they just play ones on tv
and they break stuff

Were they serious thieves? I suppose they are out of jail or done with the law however they were involved with it?

I think I have watched one episode of that.

If they broke my stuff I'd be irritated.
What's wrong with you? Never seen a space ship before?

I watch that show sometimes. I've never understood why those people agree to have all their family heirlooms and expensive antique stuff bashed around and broken just to get some locks on their windows and be on tv. It makes me all sad when the people are upset about their stuff :(

they are actors now and are no longer burglars but just play them on tv

in the intro to every episode it says Matt Johnston is now a school teacher and Jon Douglas Rainey is a private eye. so i guess that's what they do when they're not filming their tv show.

it's just so absurd i LOVE it :D

and yea i would be pissed if i got robbed too  the point of the show (aside from being entertaining) is to show the viewers that they need good security so they don't get robbed. as well as what you should and shouldn't do in case of a burglary.

it's kinda scary to think about getting robbed tho in all serious-ness. i live in an appartment with 2 houses right next to mine and 3 behide me. and a house right next to mine across from a graveyard and 4 chuches within a mile of my house. i feel safe from being robbed (but you never know)

anyway i'm rambling on ;)

agree. i couldn't do it.

also they videotape the person's house (for i think a week or so)

they do give them some sweet security systems in return B)
but er they go a bit too far sometimes with the break-in, no doubt about that.
and i'm like "i'm glad that isn't me and my house"

if they ever asked me if i wanna be on the show i would say no, no doubt about that

also sometimes they find embarrassing stuff in the persons house. for example they found some Elvis hair in this one guys house
i got embarrassing stuff in my house i would never want filmed

but you know i like to watch the show still yet :D

I LOVE this show!! Personally, I don't see why these people get all upset..I mean, yeah this guy is stealing your stuff, but you'll get it back!! These guys are doing these people a favor!! I saw one guy who got all pissed about the burglar because he stole the corvette and took off kind of fast..This was after the guy had gone through their baby's crib!! If you're going to be mad, you should be mad about that!! I don't know..I wouldn't want someone videotaping me for a week..I do some pretty embarrassing stuff in the privacy of my home..

I've only watched one episode of it, but it looks cool; although I dont understand why people agree to be robbed.
Discovery Channel is basically the greatest thing ever.
All my favorite shows are either on discovery(dirty jobs, deadliest catch, mythbusters) or the travel channel(no reservations).
