On Nov. 8, ten segments of the real Berlin Wall (and an original Berlin Wall border tower) will be temporarily installed across Wilshire shortly before midnight.

It will be painted by several artists (e.g. Kent Twitchell and Thierry Noir) and the public and then be deconstructed a few hours later in honor to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The painted sides of the segments will be aimed to the West, the gray, unpainted sides will be aligned eastwards, just like it had been in Berlin.
During the performance the two cities will be connected via satellite.
The Wall Project will be made up of two parts: The "Wall Across Wilshire" will have as its adjunct the "Wall Along Wilshire – Eastside Gallery West", which will have a somewhat longer life in front of the 5900 Wilshire Blvd. building, remaining in place from Oct. 17 to Nov. 14.
During its short existence, the "across" wall will bisect the "along" wall, with one end of the "across" wall ending at LACMA's outdoor installation "Urban Light".

(I didn't even know L.A. and Berlin are twin towns.
So if you're hanging out at the Wilshire Blvd. at that time, don't forget to bring your brush!
