Thinning out my music collection

12 February 2015 - 07:38 PM

Going through my 1100+ cds now. Plan to part with a few hundred. Did the same thing with my vinyl this past fall. In a string of 90s nostalgia now, but much of this was crap even them.

what crappy old music are you listening to now?

BluRay Audio Disc: Sea Change

22 November 2013 - 07:19 PM

Came out Oct 30. Sold out on Amazon. In case the 24K Gold Mo-Fi CD, SACD (or HDCD), DVD-A, or 180g Mo-Fi Vinyl do not satisfy your high end Sea Change listening needs, it is one of a handful of titles available as a BluRay Audio Disc. Only $30 at music direct (but says 4-6 weeks, so maybe sold out too). http://www.musicdire...audio-disc.aspx

Gal Musette...Listen to this if you like good music

17 November 2012 - 01:30 AM

I usually don't promote random people, but Gal Musette really impressed me. I saw her open for the Magnetic Fields in St. Louis on Wednesday night and she was incredibly good. She is a 14 year-old singer-songwriter inspired by 69 Love Songs to write 70 love songs. She plays piano and ukulele, writes songs in French (and English) and has amazing song composition. Her voice reminds me of a cross between early Joanna Newsom and Cat Power and Regina Spektor. Her entire set just made me very happy.
